October 2026: A New Chapter

Maybe you, too, are welcoming the end of summer. It was hot. Hot! At times, breathing felt like a task; having an ice cream cone felt divine.

As usual, I woke at three o’clock in the morning to write. My companion: a rich and flavorful café Cubano. Around three in the afternoon, I’d pick up my pen again to edit yet another draft—I’ve lost count—of my next novel, tentatively titled No Good Unpunished. My companion then: a cool matcha tea ice cream cone.

I found the courage to leave my full-time role as Office and Human Resources Manager at my son’s company and become a Human Resources Consultant. With this arrangement, I can dedicate more time to my writing and still have time to enjoy my golden years. I am excited; I’m also cautious. I rewrote my business plan… with more reality than dreams built into it.

I look forward to this new phase in my life. I hope to continue my grassroots marketing, meeting readers in coffee shops and mom-and-pop shops, where we can connect over more than books. I want to write books I enjoy writing and you enjoy reading. I hope to find you in our community!

A POET

A poet seeking to find his voice

on a hopeful journey

stayed close to other poets.

By happenstance, the poet found

a fellow poet and asked him,

“I want to be a poet full of verse and rhyme.

Show me how the dove finds the wind beneathits wings.”

The fellow poet smiled. “The dove spreads its wings

to welcome the depth and breadth of the wind.

Beyond the barriers of self, the dove is free…

So, too, will you be free to string words,

free from what other poets might think.

Self-reliance makes the heart sing. It’s like seeing yourself in the mirror as a flowet

while you are still a seed.”
